Karen Young, “Kevin J. Leonard Award” 2023 Recipient

During the April 19, 2023 Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) Research and Impact Day, I presented the annual “Kevin J. Leonard Award” in person to tenth recipient, Karen Young. Drawing from lived experience, and with enthusiasm and energy, Karen is driven to ensure our healthcare system recognizes and supports the ability of all patients to be active partners in their care.

CDTx Places First at the ICAIR Power Play Innovative Concept Pitch Competition

We are so proud of Camilla Benmessaoud, Product Manager at CDTx, who represented us at the ICAIR 2023 Conference and presented on Caretown for the Power Play Innovative Concept Pitch. She came in first place and received $2,500 which will go entirely towards funding patient engagement initiatives in the lab.

“Alexa, launch Medly”: An Introduction to Medly Voice
February 17, 2023
Antonia’s MASc thesis aimed to expand the reach of the Medly program to make it more accessible by offering it on another platform besides the smartphone. Given the recent emergence of voice apps in the digital health field and compelling attributes of the platform they are delivered on, Antonia saw the potential it could deliver to a program like Medly.

UHN and Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd. have partnered to address a critical need of heart failure patients. The objective of the partnership is to expand patient reach of UHN’s successful Medly Program— an innovative, digital therapeutic solution that delivers the benefits of specialized clinical heart failure management , improves quality of life, and reduces hospitalizations!

Paula Voorheis, “Kevin J. Leonard Award” 2022 Recipient

Paying tribute to Kevin’s tireless advocacy on behalf of patients, the “Kevin J. Leonard Award” was established at IHPME in 2013 and first presented in May 2014. As Kevin’s widow and proud member of the Award Selection Committee, I am pleased to announce Paula Voorheis as the 2022 and ninth recipient of the “Kevin J. Leonard Award”.

A New Chapter: The Centre for Digital Therapeutics

We are proud to announce our new chapter as the Centre for Digital Therapeutics. After 20 years as the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, we are rebranding to reflect our evolution towards developing digital therapeutics informed by lived experience. We will be returning to our roots in R&D and developing digital therapeutics informed by emerging theory and practice.
